At this point I've done this yoga routine 3 times, and I can I already feel the physical and mental benefits of the practice. This is a very good DVD for someone like me who'd never done it before.

These two DVDs comprise a good introduction to yoga for beginners. The instructor works slowly through the postures, explaining the techniques and benefits. Each DVD contains twelve postures. The first DVD includes basic postures, while the second DVD contains more advanced postures and also a 15-minute primer on meditation.

I found it quaint that the instructor finds the lunge position more challenging than the tree position (balancing on one foot with the other foot against your thigh). I am not sure if this stems from misunderstanding of the difficulty of the postures or it may be just a glitch in editing, but by and large, these DVDs are certainly worth their price. Recommended for beginners with no prior knowledge of yoga.

Before doing any exercise program on tape, I would always review them, and in looking at this DVD by Susam Ivanhoe I found her introduction to Yoga very insightful and great. I've been to Yoga classes before so I was not completely unfamiliar to the routines, but I found her explanations to each routine, and the way she thoroughly explained the breathing methods extremelly well done. The DVD itself also helped to bust some of my myths about Yoga. Now I can Yoga with the correct breathing methods, and the correct posture to achieve maximum results.

I Love this DVD set. Sarah Ivanhoe is one of the best video instructors I've ever had. She goes slow enough for everybody to get it, but not too slow. She's very encouraging throughout it all. I'm not athletic at all and I am certainly not flexible, but she makes it fun and reassure me that it's ok. The Dummies tips and icons let you learn a bit about yoga and it's just a lot of fun. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially those of us that aren't very athletic or flexible.

I bought this 3-DVD set for myself, and chose the set for it's range of workouts - basic, fat burning, and body sculpting. I've tried all of the workouts at least once. My favorite continues to be the second workout on the basic DVD, as this one is easy to pick up after I haven't practiced in a while (which happens far too often!). My husband also enjoys this workout and we are trying to make it a more regular part of our exercise routine. The other two DVDs are also enjoyable, but they are far more challenging and I find I rarely feel up to the challenge.
If you are very new to yoga, it may be a while before you are ready for the more challenging fat burning and body sculpting workouts. Overall the set is very good, but you might consider buying separate DVDs that better fit your individual needs and ability.

I am a non-athlete (and overweight) all my life, but came to yoga with spritual needs about five months ago. I am not a spring chicken either, so you can imagine how out-of-shape I was... I thought I should start with Dummies series. I bought them separately, but now I see them as a 2-pack and I think this should be great for somebody who really want to start from the beginning. Now I own several yoga DVD's and go to yoga classes regularly, but I still consider Sara Ivanhoe one of the greatest instructors. She has a non-judgemental, yet encouraging and thorough way to introduce you to the world of yoga. Too often in classes, instructors throw names of poses at you (sometimes in sanskrit) without giving you enough explanations. I still go back to these DVD's once in a while and understand the explanation even more each time! Overall I think the DVD's deliver what they claim.

I am an advanced kickboxer who works out at home. I bought this video because (a) I have already bought every kickboxing video on the market and (b) for some variety. This is very earnest and sincere and prettily done and the leaders are well known trainers. If you play it straight through and do all the dance routines, then do the short bonus pilates at the end, you will get a worthwhile one-hour intermediate workout. If you have never done a dance workout before, DONT do this one first. Go to Collage Video.com and get some beginning dance videos. While the choregraphy is simple and easy to pick up, it does use some dance steps (mambos, grapevines, etc.) assuming you know them, and in order to get that heartrate up, they don't spend a lot of time at a slow pace. So it's a good intermediate level workout.

Instructors Michelle Dozois and Lisa Wheeler lead you through this DVD of dance style aerobics designed to burn fat and lightly tone the lower body. The DVD itself is programmable, so you can do the five different dance routines in any order (jazz, dance party, Latin, funky, and tribal + a seperate warm up and cool down). Do them all if you've got an hour, or just do a 10 or 20 minute mix if you have less time. Either way, this DVD fights boredom to keep you motivated and on track. There is also an 18 min. bonus segment to gently stretch and tone your body with yoga & pilates to help maintain your "bikini body".

I found the guidance of both instructors to be fueled by high energy, infectious motivation, and clear demonstrations of the moves. The choreography is a little more complex than some, so it may be more tricky to pick up for beginners (i.e. chanees into a set of cross steps, ball changes followed by quick kicks...). I found Lisa's routines to be more "dancey". However, all the routines seem to be more dance aerobic than dance, so don't be intimidated if you've got two left feet.

I did the full DVD (minus the bonus segment), and by the end I had elevated my heart rate into an effective fat burning zone, worked up a sweat, and felt invigorated. I especially enjoyed this workout because it's longer than most, which can be a new challenge for beginners and a fun maintenance program for the more advanced. But remember, it still works if you're short on time!

Yoga Zone Essentials is a three-DVD set for beginning to intermediate level Yoga practitioners. Filmed on location in Jamaica, Yoga Zone Essentials provides an atmosphere of tranquility as two senior instructors guide the viewer through workouts for health and fitness. One instructor performs the poses, while the other coaches proper form. Each program offers 40 minutes, which can be followed as one workout or two separate 20 minute workouts, and individual chapters can be mixed and matched. Disc 1, Yoga Basics, teaches the viewer about basic Yoga postures and body alignment, and is useful both as an introduction and a refresher course for those who have already experienced Yoga. Disc 2, Yoga Sculpting, is separated into upper-body and lower-body workouts designed for muscle tone and body sculpting. Disc 3, Fat Burning, features Yoga poses that boost one's metabolism and promote weight loss. All three are useful for improving flexibility and personal health, and are easy to follow, with a music-only option once one is familiar with the instructors' guidance. A superb guided step-by-step series and a quality supplement any Yoga practitioners DVD library.
